Sony unveils 'smart' products at MWC

Xinhua, February 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Sony unveiled a series of 'smart' products and smartphones at the four-day Mobile World Congress (MWC) which started Monday in Barcelona.

The electronics giant presented the Xperia Eye, a wearable camera which allows users to take a 360 degree image; the Xperia Projector, a portable short-throw projector; the Xperia Agent, a personal assistant; and the Xperia Ear, a single ear 'earbud' that wearers can use to get weather updates or alerts from their smartphones.

The Xperia Ear will be launched this summer and can also be used for replying to messages or giving travel directions. The launch dates for the other products were not made known.

These products can be seen as an attempt by the company to gain terrain in the Internet of Things (IoT) market as global smartphone sales show signs of slowing down.

Sony's presentations follow those by Huawei, ZTE and Samsung, which all launched key new products on Sunday. Endit
