London Mayor Boris Johnson announced Sunday that he will back the call for Britain to leave the European Union in a national referendum on the country's EU membership.

Cameron announced Saturday that Britain would hold a referendum on June 23 to decide whether to stay or leave the European Union and recommended British people to choose remaining inside the EU, following a deal with leaders of other EU countries which gives UK a "special status" in the community.(UK-EU-london)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Sunday commended the peaceful holding of elections in the Central African Republic on Feb. 14, said a statement of Ban's spokesman.

The UN has played a major role in seeking to restore peace in the CAR, with military and police units from the 11,000-strong UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the country joining soldiers from the French Sangaris force and local security teams on Dec. 30 at polling stations to ensure a peaceful vote.(UN-Central Africa-elections)

WASHINGTON -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Saturday snatched a key victory in Nevada Democratic caucuses days before the crucial "Super Tuesday" round on March 1, according to projections by major U.S. TV networks.

DAMASCUS -- The Islamic State (IS) militant group has claimed responsibility for the deadly bombings, which rocked the central province of Homs and the capital Damascus on Sunday, killing 83 people and wounding 178 others.

In online statements, the IS group said it had carried out the bombings in the central province of Homs. The bombings came as the international community has been pushing to achieve a political solution to the country's nearly five-year-old conflict (Syria-IS-killing)

NEW DELHI -- At least 12 were killed in riots across the northern Indian state Haryana over the past one week, with officials and local community leaders appealing for an end to the violence on Sunday.

The death toll in the riots have risen to 12 by Sunday, most of them being rioters of Jat caste community shot dead by the army and police. The government has reportedly agreed to meet the demand for quota in government jobs after a meeting with Jat leaders during which it was decided that a bill will be moved in Haryana Assembly for giving Other Backward Classed status to the community, which makes up 30 percent the the state's population.(India-riot-death) Endi
