Portuguese police arrested 11 people on suspicion of crimes of pimping and drug trafficking in the early hours on Sunday in Pombal city in northern Portugal, according to Portuguese Lusa News Agency.

According to senior police officer Henrique Faria, the investigation began about two years ago following a complaint from pimping, sent by the office of the prosecutor of Pombal for investigation.

"As part of our investigation, we concluded that this crime was practiced primarily in a nightlife establishment, frequented by male clients, seeking ladies to practice the sexual act," said Faria.

He also said that three men were arrested "red-handed" in the operation.

He added that of the 11 arrested, aged between 19 and 43 years old, two foreign brothers are accused of pimping crime. "The rest are linked to narcotics trafficking crimes and illegal possession of weapons."

During the operation the police seized some 300 grams of drugs, a vehicle, seven firearms and 2,395 euros (2,663 U.S. dollars) in cash. Enditem
