Taliban destroy power pylon in N. Afghanistan

Xinhua, February 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Taliban militants fighting the government to regain power destroyed another pylon in the northern Baghlan province on Sunday, adding to power shortage in the capital city Kabul, a local official said.

"Taliban rebels blew up a power pylon in a village in Baghlan-e-Markazi district today," director of power department in Baghlan province, Ghulam Hussain Haider told reporters here.

The militants early this month destroyed several pylons in Dand-e-Shahabudin district, Baghlan province, plunging the capital city of Kabul to darkness over the past three weeks.

Although the security forces have been fighting Taliban militants in Dand-e-Shahabudin and Dand-e-Ghori districts over the past one month, the government has yet to restore power to Kabul. Enditem
