China's U19 national team defeated the Philippines 4-0 in the opener of the 2016 China-ASEAN International Youth Football Tournament Sunday afternoon.

Kicked off at 14:00 (Beijing time) in Dongxing, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the tournament features young talents from China, Croatia, the Philippines and Uzbekistan and will run from February 21-25.

The tournament is a great chance for the China U19 to gear up for the 2014 AFC U19 Men's Championship final, and the first victory in the Chinese New Year for the China U19 is crucial for the youngsters.

Gao Huaze scored the first for China at the 10th minute, with Shan Huanhuan, Li Yang and Cong Zhen adding three more in the second half to seal the victory for the hosts.

Li Ming, head coach of China U19 national team, said the tournament serves a good chance for the boys to fit in and play as a team, and a good platform for the coaching staff to evaluate whether they are ready for the AFC Championship final. Endit
