India and Nepal signed nine memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on energy, transport and transit cooperation, said officials.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Nepalese Prime Minister Sharma Oli attended the signing ceremony following their talks.

The two leaders discussed all aspects of the bilateral relationship, particularly the political situation in Nepal, according to the officials.

"India and Nepal exchange nine agreements for partnership and progress," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup tweeted.

These agreements include utilization of Indian grant of 250 million U.S. dollars for post-earthquake reconstruction, road infrastructure in Nepal's Terai area, cultural cooperation, transit between Nepal and Bagladesh through Kakarbitta-Banglabandh corridor, operationalization of Vishakapatnam port and rail transport to and from Vishakapatnam, as well as cooperation in power sectors.
