1st LD Writethru: Rocket attack wounds 2 civilians in northern Afghan city

Two civilians sustained injuries as a rocket fired by militants struck a residential area in the capital of northern Baghlan province on Saturday, a local official said.

"The rocket fired by Taliban militants struck Qahwa Khana locality in Pul-e-Khumri city at around 10:15 a.m. local time (0545 GMT) injuring two civilians," the official told Xinhua but declined to be named.

Meantime, Shafiqullah Sahak, a doctor in Pul-e-Khumri hospital confirmed that two injured people who received rocket shrapnel injuries have been taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Since eruption of fighting between security forces and Taliban militants in Dand-e-Ghori and Dand-e-Shahabudin districts outside Pul-e-Khumri a month ago, several rockets and artillery shells hit the provincial capital Pul-e-Khumri city. Enditem
