At least 11 militants were killed in two separate clashes with security forces in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Mohmand Agency on Saturday, local media reported.

Urdu TV channel Abb Takk said that in the first incident, the forces foiled a check-post attack by killing six militants in Pindyali area of Mohmand Agency, a semi-autonomous tribal area along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The report said that about eight to nine militants opened fire at the check-post, but the troops gave a befitting response and foiled the attack in which the six miscreants got killed and others fled the scene.

Geo TV said that in the second attack, five militants were killed during a search operation by security forces in Karpa area of the agency.

The search operation was launched on an intelligence tip-off about the presence of militants who killed seven tribal policemen in a check post attack earlier on Thursday.

A shootout took place between the forces and the militants during the search operation in which the militants were killed but no casualty was reported on the forces side.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, neither did the forces reveal the identity of the militants. Enditem
