Vietnam in need of 39.5 bln USD of ODA, preferential loans for 2016-2020: PM

Vietnam has a high demand for official development assistance (ODA) and preferential loans during 2016-2020 period at about 39.5 billion U.S. dollars, according to a recent document signed by Vietnamese Prime Minister.

The latest direction for ODA attraction and use in 2016-2020 period issued Wednesday by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that most of the sum will be spent on transport, urban development, agriculture, rural development, environment, education, training, health care, science and technology, Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA reported on Friday.

Meanwhile, disbursed ODA and preferential loans during the period is expected to reach 25-30 billion U.S. dollars, up 14 percent compared to that of the 2011-2015 period.

The document outlines policies to ensure the effective mobilization and use of ODA and preferential loans, helping achieve socio-economic development goals, reported VNA. Enditem
