Xinhua, February 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo shares ended the morning session sharply lower on Friday as the yen's appreciation triggered selling of export-oriented issues amid weak sentiment after losses in the overnight U.S. market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average plunged 360.57 points, or 2.23 percent, from Thursday to 15,836.23.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 28.02 points, or 2.14 percent, to 1,283.18. Enditem
