FC Midtjylland beat Manchester United 2-1 in the first leg of the Europa League round-of-32 tie in Herning, Denmark, on Thursday.

Memphis Depay put United into the lead in the 37th minute after hitting a volley into the ground which bounced past the goalkeeper. Seven minutes later Midtjylland's midfielder Pione Sisto took advantage of a Michael Carrick error and made it 1-1 with a low shot into the bottom right corner from just outside the box.

Midtjylland got into the game in the second half and Paul Onuachu gave the Red Devils a fatal strike in the 77th minute, taking the score to 2-1 and sealing the game in the Danish team's favor.

"We come out as Danish champions and we work very hard for it and here we give it all against Manchester United. We kept to the plan," said Onuachu after the match.

The second leg will be played in Old Trafford on February 25. Endi
