Xinhua, February 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

Uganda's opposition presidential candidate Kizza Besigye has been arrested by police as he tried to verify reports of an alleged illegal polling station.

Semujju Nganda, spokesperson of the Forum for Democratic Change, an opposition party told Xinhua on phone that Besigye was arrested as he tried to go and see a reported illegal polling center in Naguru, a Kampala suburb.

Besigye is one of the leading opposition candidates facing off with Uganda's incumbent President Yoweri Museveni in the Thursday polls.

Over 15.2 million voters went to the polls to elect a new president and legislators. Endit
