Singapore stocks close 1.67 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 43.78 points, or 1.67 percent, to close at 2,657.57.

A total of 1.16 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.34 billion Singapore dollars (957.1 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 278 to 110, while 536 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 30.79 points, or 1.16 percent, to close at 2,613.79 on Wednesday. Enditem
