FIFA fines Beckenbauer for not cooperating in World Cup bid probe

German soccer great Franz Beckenbauer was sanctioned by soccer's world governing body FIFA for refusing to cooperate with investigation of World Cup bidding.

FIFA's ethics committee Wednesday said Beckenbauer refused "repeated requests for his assistance" in the 2018-2022 World Cup inquiry.

Beckenbauer was fined 7,000 Swiss francs (about 7,050 U.S. dollars). Enditem
