Xinhua, February 17, 2016 Adjust font size:

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday reaffirmed his support for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration while also calling for further cooperation between the two neighboring countries in a variety of fields.

On an official trip to Georgia, Cavusoglu expressed his readiness to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The minister spoke at a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Janelidze.

Cavusoglu also said that Turkey plans to increase imports from Georgia in the future.

For his part, the Georgian foreign minister said his country considers Turkey a close friend, and there are many areas in which the two countries could seek strategic cooperation.

The two ministers highlighted efforts by both countries to promote regional transport and energy projects, especially the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway and the Southern Energy Corridor Project.

They also exchanged views on challenges facing global security and stability.

Later on Friday, Cavusoglu and Janelidze will participate in a trilateral meeting with their counterpart from Azerbaijan. Endi
