35 aid trucks start entering Syria besieged rebel-held town

As many as 35 aid trucks started entering the Syrian town of Muadamiyeh near the capital Damascus Wednesday, as part of 100 convoys planned to enter other besieged areas, according to state news agency SANA.
The 35 trucks carry medical supplies and food stuffs for the people of Muadamiyeh, a rebel-held town besieged by the government troops in the Western Ghouta countryside of Damascus.
About 50 trucks are prepared to enter the rebel-held towns of Madaya and Zabdani in the northwestern countryside of Damascus, according to Muhannad al-Asadi, a humanitarian worker with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC).
Another 15 others are to be delivered to Kafraya and Foa, both Shiite towns besieged by the rebels in the northwestern province of Idlib.
The delivery of aid to the troubled areas are going to take place on periodic basis, in accordance to the needs of each area.
Al-Asadi told Xinhua that a media team is going to enter Kafraya and Foa, while a mobile clinic unit will enter Madaya.
Syria's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday slammed the remarks of a UN peace envoy that questions the seriousness of the Syrian government in letting aid in besieged areas.
UN envoy Staffan de Mistura, who is currently on a visit to Syria to oversee the entry of aid to besieged areas, said on Tuesday that it's the duty of the Syrian government to deliver aid to the besieged people. Endit
