India testfires home-made Prithvi-II missile

Xinhua, February 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

India Tuesday successfully testfired its home-made Prithvi-II surface-to-surface missile from a test range in the eastern state of Odisha, sources said.

"The missile was testfired from the Integrated Test Range in Odisha as part of a user trial by the Indian Army. The testfiring has been successful," the sources said.

Developed by the state-owned Defense Research and Development Organisation, Prithvi-II has a strike range of 300 km and is capable of carrying up to 1,000 kg of warheads.

The missile was inducted into the armed forces in 2003 and the last user trial was carried out in November last year. Enditem
