Located in Wuyuan County of Jiangxi province, Yancun Village was built in the South Song Dynasty. Yancun is a very small village with an 800-year-plus history. It features residential buildings and wooden sculpting, with old carvings everywhere, each with an auspicious meaning. Each house's gate is built in the shape of the Chinese character meaning "business," while every home is encircled by high walls. Yancun Village is famous for its brick carvings, stone carvings and wood carvings.[China.org.cn/Photo by Han Bo]
