Hungarian Parliament begins spring session with PM criticizing EU migration policy

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said the migration wave would increase, the European Union's (EU) policy of encouragement was a failure, and that Hungary wanted no part of any quota.
The prime minister made the remarks in his address to parliament which began its spring session here on Monday.
Brussels wants to continue transporting illegal migrants to the EU, and then relocate them according to a mandatory way, Orban said, adding the EU lacked not only the capabilities to handle the migrant crisis, but also the will to protect itself.
Orban said he had ordered the reinforcement of Hungary's border fence and was creating capacities for building a new one.
He said Brussels must comply with laws and respect the will of nations.
A total of 1.8 million Hungarian people have signed a petition to support the government's fight against the mandatory quotas, he said, adding that this year Hungary must have a diplomatic, legal and political defense against Brussels.
Orban praised the Visegrad Group -- Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary -- for supporting Hungary's border closures and noted that public opinion in most of the EU agreed with Budapest rather than Brussels.
He called for additional laws to prevent the influx of possible terrorists, including one that requires a two-thirds parliamentary majority, which the opposition has been unwilling to agree to. Endit
