Stuttgart's Ginczek suffers injury on road to recovery

Daniel Ginczek ruptured the cruciate ligaments in his left knee to suffer a heavy setback on the road to recovery, Stuttgart announced in an official statement on Sunday.

The 24-year-old striker just returned to the team trainings after a surgery owing to a spinal disc herniation. His comeback was scheduled for March but the cruciate rupture, which he suffered in a trainings session on Sunday, will keep him sidelined for the next months.

"The message of Daniel's injury is a setback for all of us but especially for him. Daniel has proven in the past that he is a fighter. We will support him wherever we can and give him all the time he needs," Stuttgart's sporting director Robin Dutt said.

Ginczek joined the "VfB" from second division outfit Nuremberg in the summer 2014 to score 10 goals in 25 appearances ever since.

"It is unbelievable bad luck for Daniel and intangible for all of us. The whole team wishes him a speedy recovery," Stuttgart's coach Juergen Kramny said.

Stuttgart sit on the 10th place of the standings. They encounter 5th placed Schalke at the 22nd round of Bundesliga on Sunday. Endit
