50 couples get hitched in hot air balloons over Latvia

Fifty couples got married in hot air balloons flying over the eastern Latvian town of Jekabpils on Valentine's Day, local media reported on Sunday.

Lasma Sklaska, a representative of the Jekabpils local authority, said the mass wedding ceremony was organized as part of the activities of the Love Cup 2016 hot air balloon festival.

The takeoff of the balloons with the brides and grooms, which originally was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. local time(1100 GMT), was delayed by a sudden snowfall.

The love-themed winter hot air balloon festival Love Cup 2016 continued for three days in the eastern Latvian municipalities of Jekabpils, Sala, Krustpils and Viesite, with the participation of hot air balloon pilots from across the world. Enditem
