Saudi Arabia denied on Sunday any plan for King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to visit Russia, the country's state news agency SPA said.

Russia's RIA news agency said on Wednesday that the visit is planned for "mid-March," citing Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

Officials from the Saudi Foreign Ministry highlighted that recent media reports about setting a date for the visit is false.

The news came as Saudi Arabia is planning to send ground troops to Syria to battle the Islamist State.
