Two civilians including a woman were killed and 10 others were injured in police firings Sunday amid protests over the killing of a militant by Indian soldiers in Indian-controlled Kashmir's Pulwama district, said local media.

Indo-Asian News Service quoted police as saying clashes erupted in Astan Mohalla (Kakapora) area of Pulwama in the afternoon as protesters hurled stones at security forces to protest the killing of a militant by soldiers. Police fired at the crowd, killing two and injuring over 10.

Tension has gripped the entire Pulwama district after news of the death of two civilians spread. Senior civil and police officers rushed to the spot, according to the report. Enditem
