Speed skater Li claims first gold for China at Lillehammer 2016

Chinese teenager Li Yanzhe claimed the first gold medal for the country at Lillehammer 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Hamer, Norway on Saturday in the men's speed skating 500 meters.

The 16-year-old Heilongjiang native raced a total time of 71.95 seconds after a 35.98s first run and 35.96s to finish the second run, beating Japanese Kabuki Sakakibara to the second place by 2.02 seconds.

South Korea's Chung Jae Woong came out the third at 2.18 seconds, while the only other Chiense Shen Hanyang was the distance 19th on a total time of 76.78s.

On women's part, Chinese duo Han Mei and Li Huawei finished 2-3 in the 500 meters sprint, while Kim Min Sun of South Korea took the title on 78.66 seconds, edging Han on just 0.78s. Endit
