According to the centre, 22 municipalities out of 60 have already declared flu epidemic. Last year 5 municipalities declared epidemic.

Epidemiologists say the death toll may rise in coming days. Daiva Razmuviene, medic from CCDA, told Lithuanian national radio LRT, the outbreak of the flu in Lithuania is forecasted to reach its peak next week.

CCDA urged people to apply for medical care as soon as the first symptoms of the virus are felt in order to avoid life threatening complications. According to medics, elder people and those suffering from chronic diseases are the most vulnerable to the complications of the virus. Endit
