Xinhua, February 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

After Wednesday's horrendous innings against England where Namibia's U19 Cricket lost by 203 runs, the young team restored their pride when they beat Nepal by 15 runs in a tightly contested World Cup match that was played on Thursday, at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah.

The Namibian squad speared-headed by Michael van Lingen posted a total of 225 runs after they won the toss and opted to bat.

Despite Nepal controlling most of the game, Namibia managed to squeeze through, as Nepal fell short of the target and only posted 210.

Namibian Van Lingen's all-round performance during the match, resulted in him being crowned the player of the match after edging out 58 runs and picking up 4 wickets.

Namibia's 7th Place Play-off win over Nepal, means that Namibia will feature in the 2018 U19 Cricket World Cup, as they emerged as the best Associate Member of the ICC and therefore directly qualifying them for the next World Cup. Enditem
