New train arrives from China to Macedonia

Xinhua, February 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Macedonian Railways informed on Wednesday that a new train arrived from China, after the first one was officially launched on the Skopje-Veles route a few days ago.

The train that arrived in the Greek port of Thessaloniki was brought in with the help of three trucks. Several carriages and the locomotive arrived in parts, and in the next few days they will be mounted on the rails.

The manufacturer of the train is Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co. Ltd. The company, in central China's Hunan Province, is a subsidiary of China's high-speed rail (HSR) group CRRC Corp. Ltd.

The new train is diesel powered and will be released on the route to Prilep and Bitola. The remaining four trains are expected to arrive no later than April.

New trains and the renovated railway stations along the Corridor 10 are the first investment in the Macedonian railways sector for more than 30 years. Endit
