Having missed the 2015 season due to a persistent Achilles tendon injury, Augustine Choge is hoping to claim the 3000m title at the World Indoor Championships in U.S. next month.
Choge, 29, hopes to be named in the Kenya team to join with world 3,000m champion Caleb Ndiku for the competition. The World Indoor Championships will be held in Portland, Oregon from March 17-20.
"It's long since I won something for Kenya. It has been a tough battle with tendon injury that has no cure apart from just relaxing to let it heal," he said.
Choge won so far both top 3000m races on the circuit in Dusseldorf and Karlsruhe.
Kenya plans to enter athletes in three disciplines - 800m, 1,500m and 3,000m - for both men and women races.
Only Ndiku and Helen Obiri (silver in 1,500m) won medals in the last championships held in Sopot, Poland in 2014. Endit
