French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Wednesday accused Russia and Iran of being complicit with the Syrian regime in fuelling civil war and hampering a diplomatic push to end the crisis.

Speaking to French lawmakers, Fabius said: "There are both a frightening brutality of Bashar al-Assad regime and complicity of Russia and Iran" that are dashing hopes of making the Syria peace talks a success.

The French top diplomat pointed the finger at the two countries over its "ambiguous policy" to handle the Syrian crisis.

Fabius urged the Syrian regime to stop shelling. He also called for further boosting the political process to end Syria's civil war. Endit
