Netanyahus' former house manager wins abuse case

Xinhua, February 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

An Israeli labor court said Wednesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife abused a former manager of their official residence, ordering the state to pay him compensations.

Former house manager of the Prime Minister's Residence, Meni Naftali, accused Sara Netanyahu of ill treatment while he worked there.

The Jerusalem Labor Court accepted Naftali's civil lawsuit, saying he presented the court with many evidence suggesting that "conditions of abusive employment prevailed in the (Prime Minister's) residence due to the conduct of Mrs. Netanyahu and the way she treated employees."

The court ruled that Mrs. Netanyahu's misconduct included "excessive demands, insults, humiliations, and tantrums."

Employees were also required to work long hours. The court said that the Prime Minister's Residence is obviously a unique and complex working place, but "it cannot justify abusive employment."

The court also ordered the State of Israel to pay Naftali 150,000 shekels (about 38,000 U.S. dollars) in damages. Endit
