Israeli army detains 23 Palestinians in West Bank raids

Xinhua, February 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Israeli army arrested on Wednesday 23 Palestinians during raids in various towns and villages all over the West Bank, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club Association said in a statement.

The statement said 20 Palestinians were attested during Israeli army forces raids on Palestinian homes in the areas of Bethlehem and Jerusalem, 14 from the area of Jerusalem and six from Bethlehem.

Three others were arrested in Hebron, Tulkarem and Jenin, according to the statement, adding that the 23 Palestinians were taken to several Israeli army centers for interrogations.

Meanwhile, Israeli Radio reported that an Israeli army force stormed the city of Hebron early on Wednesday and seized weapons hidden in one of the houses.

The radio quoted Israeli army sources as saying that another Israeli army force stormed the village of Allabban, east of Nablus in northern West Bank, and found weapons, adding that three Palestinians were arrested.

Tension of violence between Israel and the Palestinians has been going on since early October in the West Bank, Jerusalem and Gaza, which had so far left 170 Palestinians and 30 Israelis killed.

Meanwhile, Palestinian security officials said the Israeli army has been closing the village of Nahaleen west of Bethlehem in the West Bank for the second consecutive day.

The officials said the Israeli army forces carried out raids on dozens of houses in the village, claiming that they are searching for a Palestinian who stabbed an Israeli settler near Bethlehem on Tuesday. Endit
