U.S. stocks fluctuate amid global selloff

Xinhua, February 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

U.S. stocks fluctuate on Tuesday after opening bell amid turmoil in global market.

Japanese equity market plummeted more than 5 percent on Monday as investors fled to safety, while European stocks suffered broad loss, with the Stoxx Europe 600 Index down 2.4 percent on Tuesday.

A range of factors continued to drag the markets down, including declining oil prices and mounting concerns over global growth rate.

Oil prices have lost around 20 percent since 2015 started as market expected the global supplies to exceed the demand.

Shortly after the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged down 16 points, or 0.1 percent, to 15,928. The S&P 500 gained 1 points, or 0.04 percent, to 1,854. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 20 points, or 0.5 percent, to 4,303.

U.S. stocks moved down Monday, due to that Wall Street meditated on a batch of weaker-than-expected economic reports. Endi
