Croatia received 14.3 million tourists in 2015, making the year the best of tourism since its independence, the Croatian State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) said on Tuesday.

The number of visitors increased by 9.3 percent compared with 2014, the DZS said, adding that foreign tourists accounted for 88.1 percent.

Among the 12.6 million foreign arrivals, Germans remained in the first place, or accounting for 24 percent of total foreign visitors, followed by Slovenians and Austrians, DZS said.

Croatian Tourism Minister Anton Kliman said promotional activities would be enhanced in some potential markets and he expected 2016 would be another record year. Endit
