Philippine foreign minister resigns

Xinhua, February 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario has resigned from his post, citing health reasons, a senior government official said Monday.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr., quoting Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr., said President Benigno S. Aquino III has accepted Del Rosario's resignation effective March 7.

Del Rosario was the third Cabinet official to quit the post this year.

Effective January, Trade and Industry Undersecretary Adrian Cristobal Jr. assumed the agency's chief post after Gregory Domingo resigned.

Early this month, Aquino appointed Emmanuel Esguerra as acting Economic Planning Secretary after Arsenio Balisacan was named as head of the newly created Philippine Competition Commission. Endit
