Roundup: Afghan violent incidents claim 10 lives, wound 27

Violent incidents in the shape of suicide attack and bomb blast claimed the lives of 10 people including six civilians and injured 27 others including 18 army personnel on Monday, officials confirmed.

In the first violent offensive which rocked the northern Mazar-e-Sharif city Monday morning, four people including the attacker were killed and 18 army personnel sustained injuries, an official said.

"A terrorist strapped explosive device around his body blew himself up next to a bus of army personnel in Dihdadi area outside Mazar-e-Sharif city at 07:45 a.m. (local time) today, killing three army personnel and injuring 18 others," provincial government spokesman Farhad Muneer told Xinhua.

The attacker was also killed in his blast, he added.

Windowpanes of nearby houses and shops were also smashed due to the blast, according to the official.

The Taliban militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In another development, a blast hit a bazaar in Yahya Khil district of the eastern Paktika province on Monday afternoon, leaving six people, all civilians, dead and nine others injured, deputy to provincial government, Attaullah Fazli said.

"The blast occurred in front of a bakery in the bazaar of Yahya Khil district at around 12:30 p.m.(local time) today, killing six people and injuring nine others," Fazli told Xinhua.

All the victims are civilians, the official asserted, saying no security personnel were present at the site during the blast.

Putting finger at Taliban for organizing the bloody bombing, the official added that the armed insurgents by conducting subversive activities are attempting to terrorize the people. Enditem
