1st Ld Writethru: Blast kills 2 civilians in Afghan northern Saripul city

Two civilians were killed as a blast rocked Saripul city the capital of northern Saripul province, 350 km north of Kabul on Sunday, deputy to provincial council Sayed Assadullah Daneshi said.

"A bomb went off in Saripul city at around 03:00 p.m. local time today, killing two civilians," Daneshi told Xinhua.

The official, however, didn't provide more details.

Meantime, an official on the condition of anonymity confirmed that the blast occurred next to the branch of a local bank the Azizi Bank inflicting casualties.

Spokesman for Saripul provincial government, Zabihullah Amani also confirmed the incident but declined to furnish details, saying investigation has been initiated into the case. Enditem
