4.6-magnitude quake jolts eastern Japan

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.6 jolted the eastern region of Japan on Sunday, according to the weather agency, but no tsunami warning has been issued.

Japan's Meteorological Agency said the earthquake struck at a depth of 50 km in Ibaraki Prefecture at 19:27 local time (1027 GMT).

On the JMA seismic scale which peaks at 7, the quake registered 4 in Ibaraki and Saitama Prefectures and 3 in Tochigi, Gumma and Tokyo regions. Endit
