Kenya's Kiptom wins Lagos city marathon

Kenya's Abraham Kiptom on Saturday emerged winner of the Access Bank Lagos City 42.1 km marathon race in 2hrs 21 mins, 20 secs ahead of his fellow compatriot, Hosea Kipkembe.

Debebe Toise of Ethiopia came third behind the Kenyans.

The race began at the National Stadium Surulere Lagos on Saturday at 7.10 a. m, local time with no fewer than 20,000 marathoners.

The race went through the Ikorodu road to link Oworonsoki and pass through the third mainland bridge linking the Victoria Island and ended at the Eko Atlantic Beach.

Kenyan long distance runner outshine other top marathoners across the world to win the race.

The Kenyans athlete received the sum of 50,000 and 40,000 U.S. dollars for winning the tournament respectively, while the Ethiopian got 30,000 dollars for third position.
