1st LD Writethru: Drone attacks kill 28 IS fighters, wounds 10 in E. Afghanistan

A total of 28 militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS) were killed and 10 others injured as a pilotless plane pounded their hideouts in Achin and Kot districts of Nangarhar province Friday night, said a statement of the provincial government released here Saturday.

"The air strikes targeted IS fighters in Lataband area of Achin district and their hideouts in Kot district late Friday night, killing 28 rebels and injuring 10 others," the statement said.

Two cars of IS fighters were also destroyed during the strikes, the statement added.

The statement also confirmed that two civilians including a woman had also sustained injuries during the air raid.

IS fighters who are active in parts of Nangarhar province, are yet to make comments. Enditem
