Afghan forces kill 12 IS insurgents

A dozen militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS) had been killed in a clash with security personnel in Kot district of eastern Nangarhar province early Saturday, local media reported.

The clash flared up in Kot district, leaving 10 IS insurgents injured.

There were no casualties on security personnel, the report said, citing Ataullah Khogyani, spokesman for the Nangarhar provincial government.

The IS fighters who are from the mountainous districts of Achin and Kot in the province, have been challenging Afghan security forces over the past several months. Endit
