Indonesia's Daud confident to defeat Kato in WBO title bout

Xinhua, February 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

Interim WBO Asia-Pacific lightweight champion Daud Cino Yordan of Indonesia said on Thursday that he is confident to defeat his Japanese opponent in Jakarta on Friday.

The orthodox 28-year-old made the statement after the weigh-in at Plaza Semanggi here.

He was upbeat over his target to defeat his opponent as his body weight is lighter than Kato' s.

"My body weight is below the limit, which means it is very good. The boxer with body weight below limit means he is in a better preparation condition," he said.

Daud weight was at 61 kilograms while Kato of 31 years at 61.1 kilograms.

"Body weight is one of indicators to determine the readiness of a fighter," Daud said.

The bout, called "the road to championship", is scheduled to take place in Balai Sarbini in Jakarta on Friday evening.

Daud has won 33 out of 36 bouts while Kato has won 29 out of 36.

The match will be the first battle of the two boxers.

Previously Daud said: "I will only focus on 'hit and hit', and when he is in weak condition that is the time for me to finish him." Endi
