Cuba to resume int'l trade fair to attract foreign investors

Cuba will resume a long-suspended international trade fair to promote trade and attract foreign investors, government officials said on Wednesday.

The fair, suspended in the 1990s, will see trade on goods such as food, security equipment, packaging and graphic arts.

Miriam Martinez, director of exhibitions and trade fairs of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, told Xinhua that the move, part of the island country's current economic reform agenda, reflects the Cuban government's will to promote links with the international markets and encourage new business opportunities.

He said it will also bring together buyers and exhibitors, and help create an ideal environment to reach business deals, adding that the other fair, PacGraf Cuba, which is dedicated to the trade of printing and graphic arts, will run on Feb. 7-9, 2017.

The Cuban Pabexpo exhibition complex has also signed an agreement recently with the Spanish Fira de Barcelona, one of the most important trade fair organizers in Europe.

The agreement will allow Havana to host several international trade fairs in 2016. Endi
