Spain's consumer confidence falls by 8.3 points in Jan.

Spain's consumer confidence fell by 8.3 points from December to January to a total of 99.1 points, indicating a negative perception of Spain's economic situation, according to data unveiled on Wednesday by the Center for Sociological Research (CIS).
The Consumer Confidence Indicator (CCI) ranges between 0 and 200 points, with ratings over 100 points considered positive perceptions of the economic situation and ratings below that figure indicate a negative perception.
The indicator of people's expectations about the future fell by 13.2 points in January to 105.7 points, while the indicator of the current economic situation fell by 2.8 points to 92.4 points.
According to the survey, 30.2 percent of the people questioned believe the current economic situation is worse now than six months ago, 40 percent do not see any changes, while 28.4 percent of them believe it has improved.
On the other hand, 33.5 percent of the people surveyed think that the economic situation will improve in the following six months, while 27.7 percent think that it will worsen and 26.6 percent do not expect any changes.
The CIS conducts around 1,400 interviews and the results help to predict consumer behavior for the following months as well as the performance of the economy. Endit
