Indonesian president orders to issue travel advisory amid Zika fears

Xinhua, February 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Wednesday ordered authorities to issue a travel advisory for citizens planning to go to countries hit by Zika virus.

One Indonesian man has been positively infected by the virus.

The 27-year-old man has been infected in Jambi province but he has been cured, Indonesian Health Minister Nila Moeloek said at the palace on Wednesday.

Widodo urged for conducting an early detection and a quick emergency respond on the possible spread of the virus.

"There must be a travel advisory for the citizens wising to travel to countries already hit by Zika virus," he said.

The World Health Organization has warned all countries of the danger and urged countries including those in the Southeast Asia to boost prevention measures in anticipating the risks.
