2 Hamas militants die in Gaza tunnels

Xinhua, February 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two of the Islamic Hamas movement died in a tunnel in Gaza Strip Wednesday, said al Qassam brigades, the movement's military wing.

The brigades announced that 35-year-old Fuad Abu Etewi and 23-year-old Ahmad Zahar were "working inside the tunnel" when it collapsed Tuesday night, without providing more details.

Local sources said seven Hamas militants were pulled out of the underground tunnel.

The brigades announced last Thursday that seven of its militants died in a tunnel, two days after it collapsed due to bad weather conditions.

The tunnels are used against Israeli targets for years, according to the movement.

Last month, al Qassam brigades announced that two of its militants also died in two separate incidents in tunnels that collapsed.

Hamas movement said its militants had died while undertaking operation against Israel without clarifying the circumstances of their death. Endit
