Singapore stocks close 1.1 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 28.49 points, or 1.1 percent, to close at 2,550.74.

A total of 681 million shares changed hands with turnover of 1.09 billion Singapore dollars (762.2 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 249 to 118, while 556 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 23.18 points, or 0.89 percent, to close at 2,579.23 on Tuesday. Enditem
