Man jailed for same-sex molestation

Xinhua, February 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

A court in east China's Zhejiang Province on Tuesday sentenced a man to eight months in prison for molesting another man in an Internet cafe.

The 40-year-old defendant, surnamed Deng, is a native of Chuzhou City, Anhui Province. Deng molested a 20-something man, only identified by his surname Ma, as he was sleeping in the corner of the cafe in the Zhejiang city of Wenling, according to the People's Court of Wenling City.

Ma woke up when he was assaulted and reported the case to police. Deng was arrested and pleaded guilty, the court said.

Under China's amended Criminal Law, which took effect on Nov. 1, 2015, the object of molestation cases has been revised from "women" to "others." It means that men can also fall victim to molestation in the eyes of the law. Endi
