Morocco aims to become world's major fertilizer producer by 2017

Xinhua, February 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Morocco will become the world's largest producer of fertilizers by 2017, said Mostafa Terrab, CEO of the state owned Office Cherifien de Phosphate (OCP).

This goal will be achieved due to the launch of new fertilizer plant dedicated entirely to the African Market, which will produce 12 million tons of fertilizers annually by 2017, Terrab said in an interview published by daily Le Matin on Tuesday.

The new plant, Africa Fertilizer Complex, aims to accompany growth of African markets through continued and regular supply of fertilizers and consolidate Morocco's leadership in the global phosphates market, he pointed out.

He noted that this new complex, which required an estimated budget of 5.3 billion dirhams, will export its products entirely to the African market. Endit
