According to Malee Choklamlert, director general of the Department of International Trade Promotion, Thailand exported 1.6 million tons of fresh, frozen and dried fruits and vegetables in combined value of 3.7 billion U.S. dollars, a 4.4 percent rise from a year earlier to major world markets including China, Vietnam, China's Hong Kong, Japan and the United States last year.

Other markets for the Thai fruits and vegetables included Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia, Malee said.

Major fresh and frozen Thai fruits bound for export included durian, which secured nearly 4 million U.S. dollars mostly from Chinese markets, longan, mangosteen, canned pineapple, sweet corn, beans and fruit juices.
