2 Palestinian teens stab Israeli teen in Jerusalem, manhunt underway

Xinhua, January 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two Palestinian youths allegedly stabbed and wounded an Israeli teenager outside East Jerusalem's Old City before they fled the scene on Saturday night, police said.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said the suspects stabbed a 17-year-old Israeli in his back while he was walking near the Damascus Gate, a predominantly Palestinian area of Jerusalem. Dozens of police are searching the area to find the perpetrators, Samri added.

A spokesperson for Israel's emergency medical service said the Israeli sustained light injuries.

The incident came amidst a four-month-long surge of Palestinian uprising, including stabbing, car-ramming, and shooting attack, which so far claimed the lives of 25 Israelis, and a U.S. citizen.

In the same time, at least 150 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire. According to Israel, most of them were killed amid attempted attacks.

Israel has been accusing the Palestinian National Authority of "inciting" the violence while the Palestinians say it is the result of 49 years of Israeli control of their lands. Endit
